Girl athlete of the week / golf
What she did: Shot a 77 at Sundale Country Club during an SEYL mini-tournament. Her score was the lowest in the league this season, and it helped the Rams post a team score of 424 -- the lowest in program history.
Coach Lela Steiber says: "She's really come on strong. She's really worked hard on her game."
Boy athlete of the week / football
What he did: Rushed for 156 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries in a 41-12 win over Shafter. The victory snapped a 20-game Rebels' losing streak.
Coach John Wren says: "We wanted (Meyers) to be a defensive force for us, and he still is, but injuries forced him to carry the ball some. We see this every day in practice, so we weren't surprised."
