SHAFTER -- Senior running back Eric Jones led a dominating rushing effort as Foothill defeated Shafter 42-28. Jones gained 268 yards on 31 carries and scored Foothill's first 5 touchdowns as they pulled away from Shafter in the second half.

Matt Guerra completed the scoring for Foothill with a fourth quarter touchdown pass to Ronnie Churchill for the final margin of victory. Lawrence Weldon added 115 yards on the ground to spell Jones and keep Foothill rolling.

The game turned in Foothill's favor in the third quarter. Foothill took the second half kickoff and marched in for a touchdown to break a halftime tie. Later in the third, a Shafter turnover set up Jones' fourth touchdown, a 43 yard run on the next play. Shafter's next posession resulted in an interception and Jones scored again on the very next play for his fifth touchdown. Foothill would never relinquish the lead.

Jeremy Couch led Shafter with a strong effort, throwing for 125 yards and rushing for 87 yards and 4 touchdowns.
