Four teen boys broke into the 13-year-old's family home in the 7600 block of Shetland Drive at about 11:10 a.m., according to a Bakersfield Police Department news release.
The boy confronted the teens, who ran without taking anything and didn't harm the boy.
After leaving the home, Senior Officer Todd Dickson noticed four teens standing near a bus stop at Ming Avenue and El Portal Drive.
One of the teens had a camera still in its packaging and there appeared to be more stuff hidden behind bushes near the bus stop.
The teens were questioned and police believe that after leaving the Shetland Drive home, they went to a home in the 7300 block of Calle Los Batiquitos.
Jeff Davidson, 18, an unidentified 15-year-old and two unidentified 14-year-olds were arrested on suspicion of two counts of residential burglary, conspiracy, receiving stolen property and minors in possession of alcohol.
A laptop computer, watch, digital camera and alcohol were found at the bus stop.
A man who answered the door at the Shetland Drive home declined comment Wednesday evening.
The first burglary of the day happened at about 9:20 a.m. in the 6400 block of Edgemont Street. Police were called while the burglary was still happening, and when officers arrived, they saw three males heading out the front door with an arm full of wrapped Christmas presents.
The three ran away but were found during a search of the area. Anthony Pinkins, 18, Eric Chamblee, 22, and an unidentified 14-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of residential burglary, resisting an officer and conspiracy.
All of the gifts were recovered.
The Kern County Sheriff's Department also arrested two people on suspicion of burglary earlier this week.
Sheriff's deputies went to a home in the 300 block of Beardsley Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. Monday, according to Sgt. Richard Wood.
Resident Jessie Bower, 68, had seen two males on her back lot and confronted them with a pistol.
Bower, who is not in good health, held the two intruders at gunpoint until deputies arrived, Wood said.
Joshua Holman, 23, and an unidentified 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy.
Deputies seized Bower's gun, which was not properly registered, but did not cite her, Wood said.
