If you’re contemplating installing wind turbines, you would want to know the areas in eastern Kern that are appropriate for them. Height requirements have increased from 400 feet to 500 feet in some areas.
Thinking of building a shed or workshop? The size of that extra structure would depend on the size of your home. Guidelines about parking large trucks at your home could change somewhat. Same for rules about having a windmill at your home or business to generate power.
Other changes could affect street vendors and food peddlers, people who store liquefied commercial gas or natural gas or wish to open beverage container recycling businesses.
The changes would go into effect after the county Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors approve them.
All workshops start at 7 p.m. — here’s the schedule:
• Wednesday, Mojave Veterans Hall, 15580 O St., Mojave
• Thursday, Taft Veterans Hall, 218 Taylor St., Taft
• Monday, Shafter Veterans Hall, 309 California Ave., Shafter
• Tuesday, Kerr McGee Community Center, 100 W. California Ave., Ridgecrest
• Oct. 22, Kern River Valley Seniors Center, 6405 Lake Isabella Blvd., Lake Isabella
• Oct. 28, Frazier Park Recreation Building, 300 Park Drive, Frazier Park
• Oct. 29, Public Services Building, 1st Floor, 2700 M St., Bakersfield
