Police raid auto shop; seize drugs, guns and money

A search at a northeast Bakersfield auto business led law enforcement officials to heroin, guns and thousands of dollars Tuesday afternoon, resulting in three arrests.

Officers from the California Multi-Jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team, or Cal-MMET, stopped Albert Montoya Briseno while he was driving at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday. Briseno had a warrant out for his arrest.
Officers then obtained a search warrant and to Briseno’s business, C&F Automotive, and residence at 1109 Stockton St.. His trailer and business are on the same property. There they found 20 grams of heroin, two guns and $3,000, said Sgt. Mike Bonsness.
Briseno also admitted to officers he hid about seven grams in a seatbelt hole while he sat in the back of a patrol car, Bonsness said. Briseno is a known drug dealer in the city, Bonsness said.
Briseno was arrested for three felonies including possession of heroin for sale, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of ammunition by a felon. He was booked into Kern County Jail on $421,500 bail.
Two other men, mechanics at the business, were arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. They were Luis Enrique Garzon Jr., 42, and Joaquin Hernandez Mendoza, 53.
Bonsness said neighboring business owners gave officials thumbs up as the three were arrested.
Cal-MMET is a team comprised of officers from the Kern County Sheriff's Department, Bakersfield Police Department, Shafter Police Department and Kern County Probation Department.
