No one injured in hazardous waste landfill explosion

Several explosions occurred Thursday at a hazardous waste landfill site in Buttonwillow.

At about 2:30 p.m., firefighters went to Clean Harbors Environmental Services, located in the 2500 block of West Lokern Road, according to the Kern County Fire Department.
A unit at the site was damaged from an explosion when firefighters arrived, the fire department said. There were two more explosions.
Seven operators were decontaminated and checked for medial problems. There were no injuries.
The processor was shut down until the structure can be declared safe to enter, according to KCFD.
