Fireworks booth robbed at gunpoint, suspect shoots self

A fireworks booth was robbed at gunpoint Friday night.

Patrick Horn, 38, stuck a pistol in a clerk’s face at the booth and ran off with some cash at about 8:43 p.m., said Bakersfield police Lt. Mike Cantrell.
The Phantom booth was on the south side of White Lane, west of Ashe Road in front of Sonic.
The robber accidentally shot himself in the leg and then fled the scene on foot, Cantrell said.
Police isolated him at 6500 Terrabonne Court, not far from the scene of the crime, and he was transported to Kern Medical Center.
He will be charged with robbery, an ex-felon in possession of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine, Cantrell said.
No one else was harmed.
