Bryanna Jagels, now Bryanna Adams, the ex-wife of Kern County District Attorney Ed Jagels, was in court Wednesday with one goal in mind.
She needs clearance from a judge, she said, before she can follow her new husband to his duty station in Florida. But she left court disappointed Wednesday afternoon when the prosecutor from the state attorney general’s office didn’t show.
Judge Arthur E. Wallace was forced to postpone the hearing until June 11.
“We were hoping it would end today,” Mrs. Adams said outside of court, her husband, standing by her side, dressed in a blue officer’s uniform.
“Now we have to drive back here on the 11th,” she said.
The former Mrs. Jagels admitted in 2004 to developing a prescription drug dependency. She was sentenced in March of that year to up to one year at a drug treatment facility after pleading no contest to charges she fraudulently obtained prescription drugs.
That life is behind her, she said Wednesday. Her husband’s job as a Navy pilot means the family must relocate from their home in Lemoore to the Sunshine State.
But until her probation ends, or she receives permission from the court, Adams must remain in California. Fortunately, she said, chances look good for a positive outcome.
“We just want to have a normal life together as a family,” she said.
