The 1-year-old boy’s temperature reached 104 degrees Tuesday evening and family had to rush him to a local hospital.
“We’re playing the precaution role,” said his father, Jermaine Roquemore Sr. “Doctors are concerned a temperature change could be an infection.”
Aniken drank the fluid April 27 at a family barbecue at his home on on Lynett Way near Stockdale Highway.
The boy suffered from chemical-induced pneumonia and was being treated at Children's Hospital Central California in Madera. He was released from the hospital on Friday.
“It’s been good” to have him home, Jermaine Roquemore Sr. said.
Since being discharged from the hospital, Aniken has respiratory problems and has less energy, his father said.
“He’s not able to play as much,” he said.
The family is planning to hold a barbecue fundraiser to help with covering the boy’s medical costs.
The fundraiser is scheduled for May 24, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the AYSO soccer field at Cal State Bakersfield, Roquemore said. The entertainment will include a concert, and a car and motorcycle show.
