R. Kelly to bring show to Fox

R&B giant R. Kelly is bringing his act to Bakersfield's Fox Theater in May.

It will be an intimate event, with some 1,500 tickets going on sale today.
"That makes it very exclusive in the sense of 'wow, I was one of 1,500 people who got to see R. Kelly,'" said Marcus Johnson, a manager at the Fox.
Kelly recently released his 10th album, "TP.3." He came on the R&B scene in 1992 and fought off charges of child pornography in 2002, according to his online biography by Internet Movie Database Inc.
Johnson isn't worried. Ticket sales will do the talking, he said.
Tickets for the May 9 concert cost $50.50 and $71, and go on sale at 10 a.m. today. You can purchase them online at www.vallitix.com, or by calling Vallitix at 322-5200.
