There's more real estate news like this right now:
The Home Builders Association of Kern County laid off its top paid staffer.
A financially troubled Sacramento developer asked the Shafter City Council to withdraw consideration of its 954-home Gateway Estates project.
Khamphou Siripane, the head of Global Realty & Investment and All Community Home Loans Inc., filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy on March 25.
He may owe as much as $500,000 to as many as 49 creditors, according to the bankruptcy filing.
Kern County records indicate Siripane’s personal real estate deals have been clouded for years by tax liens, foreclosure filings and property lawsuit notices.
The paper trail differs from some other troubled real estate firms because a pattern of defaults and lawsuits stretches back for years, preceding the recent boom-and-bust. Many of those troubled loans were repaid and lawsuits canceled, records show. What’s more, the loans tended to be relatively small, often in the $20,000 to $30,000 range.
Siripane could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
The broker, whose business also operated as Global Realty & Development, once operated at least three local offices.
At least one of those locations is now closed.
No one answered the phone at the agency’s Chester Avenue office Tuesday afternoon.
