Landowners James and Emilie Wainright want to divide 22 acres into 32 residential lots at the southwest corner of Lebec Road and Houser Avenue. They'd have to help pay for a traffic signal at Frazier Mountain and Lebec roads.
Opponents say the project isn't consistent with the Frazier Park/Lebec Specific Plan and it's too close to a landfill that's near fault lines. Others say it would add needed housing and boost the community's economy.
The commission will also consider:
Enforcement proceedings, including a $4,000 fine and revoking a surface mining permit, against CALEX Engineering Company for numerous violations in its mining operations near Tehachapi.
A permit to allow Calvary Chapel of Ridgecrest to add a new sanctuary, offices and a bookstore and keep two cargo containers on its land.
A zone change for 61/2 acres at Tracy Avenue next to Interstate 5. The land is zoned for agriculture and applicant Rio Bravo Vista LLC would like to receive commercial zoning. The venture originally wanted to develop a La Quinta Inn & Suites but is now delaying submitting its plans.
