Election notebook: Benham files for re-election

Bakersfield City Councilwoman Sue Benham has filed to run for a third term. Benham represents Ward 2, which includes downtown, Westchester, and the California Avenue/Truxtun Avenue area.

Benham is the first person to file to run for City Council. Also on the ballot this fall are wards 5 and 6. Incumbents Harold Hanson and Jacquie Sullivan have said they plan to file to run, and Sullivan has a declared opponent, Mark McCallum, who has not yet filed.
